The Quarrymen's Barracks in Nantlle, built in the 1860s, were once home to the many slate quarrymen working in Dorothea Quarry. Since 2016 however, they have been our home and base, and where all our coffee is roasted, tasted and packed by hand.

We are always experimenting with different coffees here in the Barracks, and 'Blend Y Barics' is an opportunity for us to share with you when we hit on something we really like.
Blend Y Barics is our seasonal blend, and an alternative to our signature Espresso Blend. Though designed for espresso, Blend Y Barics makes for a delightful Aeropress, Stovetop, or Cafetiere.

Blend Y Barics will change with the seasons and harvests, so come along for the ride and enjoy what we're drinking at the roastery.

Autumn Blend Y Barics '26

Our Autumn Blend Y Barics brings together two distinctive coffees from Brazil and Nicaragua, creating a rich, sweet and comforting cup made for the changing of seasons.

Tasting Notes: Toasted Marshmallow · Chocolate Digestives · Caramel · Treacle

Brazil — Fazenda Pinhal

Our Brazilian coffee comes from Fazenda Pinhal, a family-run estate in Sul de Minas, one of Brazil's most renowned coffee-growing regions.

With six generations of coffee-growing experience, the Gabarra family combine traditional knowledge with a strong focus on quality and sustainability. Their coffees are predominantly naturally processed, bringing out the rich sweetness and body we love from Brazilian coffee.

In our blend, Fazenda Pinhal provides the chocolatey, caramel sweetness and toasted malt character, creating a warm and comforting foundation.

Nicaragua — Agua Sarca

From the mountains of Dipilto in Nueva Segovia comes our Nicaraguan coffee from Agua Sarca, where producer Isacio Javier Albir combines coffee growing with a real passion for experimentation.

Surrounded by wild forest and a natural river, the farm is home to a wide range of coffee varieties. Isacio constantly explores new fermentation techniques and ways of working with the coffee, bringing out layers of sweetness and character.

The coffee is prepared at Cafetos de Segovia, a family-run dry mill working with producers across the region.

Nicaragua adds brightness, fruit sweetness and a gentle toasted-marshmallow quality, perfectly complementing the richer Brazilian component.
