More Information
We couldn’t be more excited to finally share with you our first limited edition experimental barrel aged coffee, that humbly, we think makes the perfect Christmas coffee.
Once again through the great work of Penderyn Distillery and their fantastic team, we’ve managed to get our hands on a tiny barrel (referred to as a bludgeon) with a great history. The barrel started life as a port cask, storing a ruby port wine, before Penderyn used the barrel to age a limited edition single cask whisky.
The barrel came to us with a delicious sweet and fruity aroma to match its history, and so we chose to age our Guatemalan – El Durazno beans in them. The beans were what made our summer’s Blend Y Barics so fruity and dessert-like with its smooth peaches and cream tasting notes.
After ageing them carefully in the barrel for 6 weeks, we decided they’d taken on the perfect amount of flavor from the barrel whilst retaining its original fruity character. We tasted a luxurious experience of Turkish delight, toasted almonds, honey, brandy, dried fruits, and of course, sweet Penderyn whisky.
This coffee is a real limited edition experience, and due to the size of the barrel we only have sixty 250g bags available to sell. This coffee makes the perfect Christmas afternoon coffee and is best shared with family and friends so you can all have an experience you won’t forget. Make sure to get some before we’re all out.
Every saturday morning we come together to run, drink coffee, swim in the local lake and then usually drink more coffee. Welcome to all.
All our coffee is sourced from suppliers who share this view and comes with a guarantee that everyone has been treated fairly along the supply chain.
